Elections - what elections?
The Students’ Association is the official representative body of the students who attend UWS. It is an organisation which is dedicated to the educational, welfare, social and organisational activities of the student body. It runs the students’ Unions. But the most important thing for you to know is that it is run by students and is student led.
Known as SAUWS (because the full title takes far too long to say!), the Students’ Association offers a wide variety of services to students studying at the campuses of UWS. Some of these services are free and some are more commercially orientated. Any money which is made is ploughed back into the organization, for the benefit of all students. As a student of UWS, you are automatically a member of SAUWS, and we rely on you getting involved to makes sure that your views are represented and that we act to ensure that your needs as students are met. You can do this in many ways, from becoming a course rep, attending Student Council, joining a club or society, becoming part of a STAR (students taking action and representing)group, visiting the Union, or if you really want to make a difference, standing for election to become a Trustee.
