Role Description

Are you a dedicated and organised person, passionate about helping others?  Come and join the Circus and volunteer at the MoonWalk Scotland on Saturday 8th June 2019 from Holyrood Park, Edinburgh. Come one, come all and join with thousands of women and men walking an overnight marathon in decorated bras, raising millions for breast cancer at the Greatest Show on Earth!

We recruit thousands of volunteers to make The MoonWalk a safe and enjoyable event, looking after our walkers at busy crossings, keeping them hydrated and above all given the encouragement they need to complete their tremendous challenges.

You could start your Saturday night spectacular in MoonWalk City, by joining one of 24 different teams from around 5pm through to midnight – from litter picking to selling merchandise, registering baggage to handing out volunteer uniforms!

The night time is where the challenge really gets going for our amazing walkers.  If you like the nightlife, marshalling or giving out water at one of Edinburgh’s famous landmarks could be for you! Start times vary between 7pm to 11pm, depending on your role, and last on average 8 hours. We can also offer site based roles at MoonWalk City throughout the night.

Finally, the early morning team take the helm on Sunday 9th June from 6am until the last walker crosses the finish line, around midday. Watching the sunrise against an Edinburgh skyline is quite a sight to see!  This truly is the most testing time for our walkers …whether you join the route or MoonWalk City teams…your kind and motivating words could be all that is needed to get someone across that finish line!

On the night you will be provided with training, a t-shirt, cap and free light refreshments. You will also meet new people and develop your skills…why not bring your friends and family along to share this unique experience!

So what are you waiting for?! Join us on Saturday 8th June for a truly remarkable experience and help us give breast cancer the push! Contact us for a chat if you are unsure of what you would like to do on the night.  We guarantee you won’t forget the night you volunteered at the MoonWalk Scotland 2019!

About this organisation

Walk the Walk is the UK's largest grant-making breast cancer charity and organisers of the famous MoonWalk overnight power walking challenges. We’re in our 23rd year and immensely proud to have raised over £22m, which has been granted to research into breast cancer and to improve the lives of people in Scotland living with cancer now.

What could you gain?

We value our volunteers just as much as the walkers – without your help we would not have an event!

All roles will develop teamwork and confidence, no matter what you do on the night. Experienced individuals have the opportunity to become Team Leaders.

All volunteers receive refreshments, t shirt and a cap to feel part of the amazing experience on the night.
