Volunteering is a wonderful opportunity to enhance your experience and learn useful and transferable skills!
From being involved with the Sustainability Hub to being part of a Sports team or Society, these all count towards your volunteering hours which are now recognised on your student record!
Here is just a few reasons to get involved in volunteering;
Employers love volunteers - build your CV
As a graduate, employers know you can learn and they take your knowledge for granted. What they need to know is, what makes you stand out from the rest. Volunteering is a great way to make yourself stand out from the crowd and have something to talk about at interviews.
You put something back
Think about the impact you can make by fundraising for a children’s charity or by lifting the mood of a club full of dancers with your next choice of song. Volunteers get that feeling all the time.
You meet new people
University is probably the place where you will share a common experience with the most people in your life. Volunteering is a great way to meet some of them.
So volunteering is fun, helps you meet people, helps you become a better person and helps other people in their lives. Sounds great – and that’s why the Students’ Association offer volunteering opportunities.
Volunteering can also allow you to build networks for future employment.
This is where the Students' Association will post up both internal and external opportunites that students can get involved in!

|Girlguiding Unit Helpers
||Remember Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Senior Section? Volunteer as a Unit helper, Assistant Leader, or even become a Unit Leader for GirlGuiding! No previous experience necessary. The very first thing I did as a leader was a zip wire – the opportunities are endless, but it's entirely up to you what you make of it! For those of you doing a degree in education, volunteering with GirlGuiding is great experience and will look good on your CV. www.girlguiding.org.uk/get_involved/volunteer/ways_of_volunteering.aspx for more information.
